About Studies and Examination Department

The Study and Examinations Department is one of the prominent departments at the Faculty of Science, Tripoli University. It serves as the fundamental pillar upon which the educational process relies. The department handles all activities related to the study and examination system, governed by the internal regulations of the Faculty of Science. This encompasses student enrollment, progression through their studies, and eventual graduation. The department ensures the provision of an appropriate educational environment for students to successfully complete their university studies in accordance with regulations and laws outlined in the organizational guidelines for education issued by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research. Among the department's responsibilities is overseeing the renewal of registration and course enrollment for students at the beginning of each semester, adhering to the organized regulations for education, and following the study plans for each scientific department in the college. The department collaborates with the scientific departments in the college to manage the educational process. It coordinates the assignment of general department students to specialized departments based on the conditions of specialization for each scientific department. Additionally, the department supervises the transfer of students to and from scientific departments within the college, following the regulations. Tasks also include creating study schedules and examination timetables before the start of the registration period, specifying the targeted number of students for each group in the academic courses. After students have registered for the courses under the supervision of academic professors, the department prepares lists of students in all academic courses for all ten scientific departments, in addition to the general department. It also records the actual numbers of students registered for each academic course. The department supervises examination committees, monitors and assigns exam invigilators in coordination with the scientific departments. It is also responsible for overseeing the results, compiling academic transcripts for students, calculating semester and cumulative GPAs based on the database in the university's study and examination system. Upon approval from relevant authorities, the department issues results and works on accepting and processing requests from students regarding the review of course grades. These announcements are made at fixed times during the semester under the conditions specified in the internal regulations of the study and examination system at the college. The department reviews student requests related to absences from examinations with acceptable justifications and considers applications for granting exceptional opportunities to students facing difficulties, as defined by the applicable regulations. At the end of each semester, the department provides a detailed report on the progress of the educational and examination processes. This report is presented in the Faculty Council meeting, which includes the faculty dean, heads of scientific departments, and department managers at the college.
