Word Of the Dean faculty of Law



The College of Law at the University of Tripoli is honored to welcome its new students and wishes them success. It is pleased to present to them and to their colleagues who have come before them this guide through which we try to review the most important information that will illuminate the path for our students and inform them of what they need to know about this institution.  Scientific, as this guide contains a summary of the educational program and the systems and regulations in force within the college, whether related to the undergraduate stage (bachelor’s degree), or to postgraduate studies, both of which are the higher degree (master’s) and the precise degree (doctorate). This guide also did not neglect  Introducing the academic and administrative staff of the college since its founding until the writing of these lines.

The University's Faculty of Law was established pursuant to the decision issued by the General People's Committee for Education (formerly) regarding the establishment of Nasser International University in 1986. It became independent from Nasser University in 1994 and became one of the colleges of the University of Tripoli.

 The number of graduates of this college since its founding until the preparation of this guide reached 7,493 male and female students, and fifteen doctoral theses and three hundred and eighty-one master’s theses in various specializations were discussed there.

 The college includes (84) professors of various academic degrees and specializations, (46) teaching assistants, as well as (48) delegates abroad to prepare for the doctoral degree.

 The college currently follows the university year system, which consists of (24) weeks for the university year, so that the student passes the prescribed subjects according to the time frame specified for each subject.

 During the academic year, the student takes one midterm exam, during which he obtains a grade of (40), and at the end of the year, he takes the final exam, his grade is from (60), and from the sum of what the student obtains in the partial exam and the final exam, the student’s grade is determined if  Success is in accordance with what is stipulated in the general regulations for studies and examinations, and after the student passes the specified classes, the student is awarded the degree of Bachelor of Law.

 The college also grants high bachelor’s degrees (master’s) and precise degrees (doctorate) according to the conditions and mechanisms described in this guide, and in various departments, which are: the Criminal Law Department - the Islamic Sharia Department - the Public Law Department - and the Private Law Department.

 This division, at the bachelor’s degree stage, is a theoretical and organizational division, the purpose of which is to distribute the subjects within the scope of each department to its members and define their vocabulary, as well as specify the elective subjects and broadcast the requests of teaching assistants and faculty members...etc. The issue of precise specialization is not actually achieved except at the stage.  Graduate Studies .

 Years ago, the college administration in the city of Tripoli decided to open a branch in the city of Janzour (formerly Al-Najila) to serve the people of this city and its suburbs.  In order to save them the trouble of moving to and from the parent college in Tripoli, it also has another branch in the Tajoura area within Section C.

 We would also like to note here that the college publishes a peer-reviewed scientific journal, the “Journal of Law,” in which scientific research and studies in law and Islamic law are published. It always welcomes all researchers from inside and outside the college to publish their research and studies. Four issues have been published so far.

 We ask God Almighty for success, payment, and more effort and giving so that we can all participate in the advancement of our country..

Vision

The Faculty of Law envisions success in the scientific and educational processes in the field of legal sciences and its various branches. It provides the Libyan community with outputs that preserve justice, by applying the legal rules in their highest forms. This is to allow protection under rule of law for all community members. In addition, the Faculty works on developing personal capabilities in a competitive environment in order to promote its rank at the international level.

Mission

The Faculty of Law works at the level of achieving the University of Tripoli’s mission. It seeks to serve the Libyan community and develop intellectual cadres in the legal field. It builds scientific competencies with a pioneering and effective role in accordance with quality standards. The Faculty, in particular, focuses on programs related to legal activity. It encourages creativity, keeps pace with research progress, familiarizes students with scientific and knowledge foundations, and develops performance of students and staff. The Faculty works on ensuring standard levels in terms of professional and ethical behavior. It establishes contacts with researchers and other law faculties to share experiences.

Objectives

The Faculty of Law is a renowned edifice that occupies a top position among its counterparts. The Faculty is honored to teach a field that is among the highest ones in human studies. Alumni of the Faculty work in various positions in society. There is nothing fairer than establishing justice among individuals, monitoring their behaviors so that everyone can live in content in terms of protecting health, wealth and honor.

 

The Faculty seeks, among other things, to achieve the following goals:

 

·         Graduating specialized scientific competencies in the field of legal sciences that contribute to the development of society.

·         Contributing to providing advisory services in the field of law for all administrative units and public companies.

·         Supplying society with legal cadres, to be the ground-base for forming a judicial elite, contributing to the realization of the right and establishing the balance of justice in society.

Staff members at the Faculty of Law are in full commitment to the ethical values ​​and principles derived from the teachings of our true religion because of its importance in achieving our vision and thus enhancing public confidence in what the Faculty provides to the community and the international environment. The Faculty observes all ethical values ​​and principles, and ensures a positive image to society and the world.

 

The Faculty of Law strengthens moral ideals and instils a spirit of citizenship in the hearts of graduates. All faculty members, employees, and students of the Faculty of Law are committed to ethical values ​​and principles when carrying out their career and educational role inside or outside the university. Thus, the Faculty undertakes the following values:
